Hamad International Airport (DOH) was chosen as the “Best Overall Airport in the World” at the 19th Annual Global Traveler Tested Reader Survey Awards, voted by readers and frequent business and luxury travellers. The airport was also awarded the “Best Airport in the Middle East” for the sixth consecutive year.

The accolades are testament to HIA’s commitment towards their passenger-first approach, which focuses on creating a bespoke experience with safety, security, stress-free travelling and sustainability at the core of the airport’s business.

Mr. Michael McMillan, Senior Vice President Facilities Management, said: “It is indeed a great achievement for Hamad International Airport to be recognised as the best overall airport by Global Traveller Awards. These accolades are a positive reflection towards our customer-facing staff at the airport, our strategy towards introducing bespoke passenger experiences, investment in the best airport innovations and an expansive facility that becomes a playground for discovery and creating new memories.”

“We will continue to globally raise the airport operation standards – as we aim to constantly exceed passenger experience and introduce industry firsts.”, McMillan added.

Hamad International Airport was also recognised as one of the top five in each of the following categories: Best Airport Dining, Best Airport Shopping, Best Duty-Free Shopping in the World and Best Duty-Free Shopping in the Middle East.

Since the start of its operations in 2014, Hamad International Airport has expanded its network and now serves over 170 destinations around the world. The airport has unveiled Phase A of its expansion project in November 2022 with a new attraction – the ORCHARD, ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ and began Phase B in January of 2023.

As Hamad International Airport continues to transform the industry with innovative experiences and breath-taking features, the award-winning airport looks to a bright, sustainable future where possibilities are endless.
